Life difused has its advantages ...

This morning, a glorious sunshine day, I was out hoping to capture a couple of good images of the heron wading in the shallows down by CJ Wijns.

I didn't do too well with the heron, but I snapped a pix of some crows and then messed around with the image in Microsoft Digital Pro 9, difusing it a bit. But then I had to put away my camera, don my Realtor hat, and get on to the office.

This time of year the heron gather in groups when the tide's coming back in. I'll try to get a good shot of them some other morning.

Hooray for Clean Underwear Day

Every day’s a holiday of one sort or another, or so I’ve read. We just celebrated Earth Day on April 22nd, today is Hairstylist Appreciation Day, May 2nd is Astronomy Day, May 4th is International Respect for Chickens Day, May 10th is Mothers Day.

Wouldn’t it be an interesting exercise to designate each day a specific day of appreciation of our own devising? I could commemorate my April 30th as Hooray for Clean Underwear Day. May 1st could be hailed as I Have a Full Tank of Gas in My Miata Day. On May 2nd I could raise a glass of chilled pinot gris in celebration of I Finally Fit Into My Dark Brown Jeans Again Day! HIP HIP HOORAY! I could immerse myself in a festive, party mood for each and every day of my life!

Do you suppose if I habitually observe a specific holiday on each day of my life, I’ll eventually drop the need to identify, and simply enjoy my days?

Now, there’s cause for celebration!

April Showers, May Flowers and all that stuff ...

I think the recent warmth has done more this year toward the flowering of Birch Bay than showers, but what do I know, eh?

Bill was gracious enough to loan me the use of his truck for my moving boxes from home to storage. Little did he realize, I'm sure, that I would also digitally "pluck" a few floral images from his garden.
The magnolias and trillium were so delightful I simply could not resist taking away a few images. Here they are for your enjoyment, too!

As life on the duck pond fades into the sunset ...

Woefully behind in bloggety-blog ... so here's a catch-up sunset from yesterday.
Demands of sorting, tossing, packing and placing possessions into storage have kept me from a number of my usual diversions. With almost everything in storage, there's a compelling temptation to scoop up the mutt, throw some clean undies into a bag, and hit the road for places far and unknown but for my imaginary musings.

But, there's more yet to attend to here. I'm to meet Martha at the Skeena house in about an hour, where we'll do the final clean-up before turning the house back to the owner.

Five + years in that abode. It's been a great place to gather my wits about me upon moving up in October 2003 from Redlands, CA. I've enjoyed experiencing the wildlife, year around and migratory, living on the pond. I'm grateful for where I am now, but sorely miss the trees, the seclusion, the pond.

Life is change. There's always a new and different sunset to eagerly look forward to ...
